From Surviving to Thriving - Preparing for the upturn
Which of your competitors will take this business from you if you are not ready?

The 5 to Thrive

  1. Allocate time to focus ON your organisation
  2. What do your customers want and then need ?
  3. Are you equipped to fulfil this want and need ? If not what are you doing about it ?
  4. Invest for maximum return
  5. Inspect what you Expect

The media has a lot to answer for. Whilst it’s important to see and hear what is going on in the world it’s also vital to take a reality check. Unfortunately we had talked ourselves in to the recession and we’re finding it hard to talk ourselves out of it. Many leaders have gone in to survival mode not doing anything that could potentially cause damage. Sadly many of these organisations have found themselves achieving what they didn’t want – OUT of BUSINESS
There seems to be some positive news that as a nation we are statistically out of recession. This message is taking longer to get through than when we found ourselves in a credit crunch.
It appears that many organisations have taken the sensible option of leaning their operations to ride the storm. Some however, have leaned too far which has resulted in reducing their ability to compete.
Take a look at your organisation and make a valuable investment of your time and attention. Look at where you are and where you want to be. Avoid the No Man’s Land trap as this is merely a mind figment. Invest in developing your capability to compete in the recovering markets

What do your customers and potential customers want ? Find out what they really want and then ascertain what they need to get what they want. What are their expectations and are you equipped to meet and then exceed them ? If you’re not which of your competitors will take this business from you?
It’s never a right time to develop yourself, your business or your people as there will always be issues that need addressing. There is one really wrong time however and that’s when it’s too late.
Are you confident you can manage and lead your way out of the financial climate ? If so make plans and set sail. If not what could you do to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours you’ll need to find this confidence ?
Anyone can make it when the times are good and business is booming, but only the real leaders make it happen in adverse conditions.
